Exclamation E39 bmw 540i timing chain

I have a 1998 bmw 540i 4.4 v-8 and i think the timing chain is making a noise. The car has 128000 miles on it. Is there any way to adjust it or does it have to be replaced? If it needs to be replaced does anyone know what this would cost? Like i said i think this is were the noise is coming from but not sure.
Thanks

I'd have a look at the chain tensioner.

Thanks for the info. i went by BMW Dealer and had it checked out, they said that the noise i was hearing was normal. That it was not the timing chain.
Thanks

Thanks but i am ok with what the mechanic told me about the noise and what the noise was that i was hearing. One more thing that i don't have to worry about.
Thanks
