I have just recently purchased a 528i Tiptronic.
Shortly after getting it the gears stopped engaging, I managed to get up to 70mph with the gears changing at random and sometimes not at all, it goes into drive but the power or selection isnt there ???
It goes into reverse fine and park, Etc No Problem
Does it sound like the gearbox has packed up or I have been told that it could be the speed sensors as this is the only thing that showed up on the diagnostic.
The car has done 114k and is a S-Plate on a 1999 if this helps, I know the transmission fluid should be changed at every 100k.
Any help would be great and thoughts or suggestions, Im hoping its only the speed sensors, hope someone will back my thoughts up on this.
