E39 528I - M52 - Vanos and Compression Valve

"Hi There,
I have an error code on my 528i E39 M52 come up, 8 Air Mass SenSor, and my mechanic checked and concluded i have to change my MAF. I bought a brand new MAF and swapped it. It has not changed a thing.

I also have an error "Mechanic Jamming". The thing is that my mechanic has told me that the valve controlling compression is not functioning properly. I should change it; and i should change the seal on my vanos until i swap for a new valve as it may fix that Vanos. His explanation is that it might not function properly not to compression fault. I'm unsure about the valve part number.

Has anyone ended in this dilema before?

I'll appreciate any input.

Cheers

Sid

Did you buy the MAF sensor from BMW, or at the least OES, after market Chinese made are junkaroola!

As mechanic jam you may fix this issue by replacing your Vanos seals. It's not hard of a job at all. It's a piece of cake actually.

I bought OES Products. Until now i have swapped MAF and CCV. I'm not a mechanic... so i'm a bit worried to have a go on my own with the vanos... just in case i may not notice any other problem when doing it or screwing up the whole thing.
