E39 528i 1998 tyre query

Hello there,

I'm from the Netherlands and just sold my E30 325, and bought myself a 528 ex 98 yesterday.
I'll start a thread asap with pictures etc, but have a quick question in the meantime

The car currently has the below 17" rims on it (anyone possible know the type and the width?)

The thing is, the tyres are very worn and need replacing. Currently they are wrapped in Pirelli 215-60-17. But after searching here is states that the 39 528 should have 235-45-17 tires on it, which seems a lot better size as the 60 hight makes them look absolutely HUGE!
So what other tire size would fit one here.
I'm guessing 215-40-17 is overdoing it?

Thanks in advance

Anyone that can confirm I can stick either 215-40-17 or 215-45-17 on these rims under the e39?
Can pick up nice sets of both for a good price
thanks
