E39 525 Rear Wiper - BMW Forum

Hi
The rear wiper on my 525 tourer has stopped working, the odd thing is the washer also stopped at the same time, checked all fuses, it seemed to stop after I had a new battery fitted, maybe coincidence, any one have any ideas please!!!!!

Have a look at the wiring to the boot lid; they can become fatigued. If the number plate light is out, that may well be the issue.

As Witeshark says it will be the wiring from the body to the rear door, cut the rubber/tape off and I'm sure you will find a chaffed or broken wire.

Thanks guys, you were both spot on, all other electrics worked including number light, but the main feed for wiper/washer was broken, just for anyone else who suffers this, its the right hand side hinge cover and the large red/white wire, the thickest wire of the bunch.
I'll think of you when I,m touring France next week, lol
