My new black e34 im buying, i'm wondering, does it have VANOS? its a 95? is it a standard feature or is there a way to tell if a car is equipped with it?

I'm guessing standard, but just wondering.

All 525s made after 91 have it as far as I know. I don't think there is a way to tell by just looking at the engine. I might be wrong

i think torque is right. after i think 92 or 93 or something, the 2.5L 3 series all had VANOS

my 95 3 series has it, so most likely the car you are buying will

just put a Vtec sticker on the back, because it's hard to find a Vanos sticker... and they are the same thing.

Just look under the hood at the engine. On the front of the head, there should be a lump on the intake side if it has VANOS. If it is flat across the front its a non-VANOS one.

VANOS started in 1993 with the introduction of M50TU...this is only single VANOS. You should be able to see the VANOS solinoid on the front of the engine...

You do have Vanos.
Most performance reports indicate non-vanos perform better than vanos.

Chers.
