E34 Trany Help

I have recently purchased a almost perfect E34 525i for a great price. The only problem it has is it needs shocks (getting new ones next week) and the transmission "surges" a little while going uphill. Could this be the begining of the end for that transmission or are there some measures I can do to prevent this from happening?

If its an Auto...

Get the fluid level checked...

If its low, might be worth getting the fliud changed.

It is an auto. It seems like it will start to shift down from OD then shift back in to it. It all happens pretty quickly.

Sounds like the torque converter and or lock up clutches might be going. Could be why it was cheap. Check that fluid like miniman says. You may need a professional on that one. Good Luck!
