E34 shocks / struts

I need to purchase some new shocks / struts for my 1990 e34 535i. I was just wondering if anyone had any feedback on if I should go stock or something like a Bilstein or Koni? Right now my car is pretty much stock as far as suspension goes.
Thanks

Stock is Boge/Sachs. They're decent components.

You can use pretty much whatever strut you want to use with stock springs (depends on how much you want to pay), but if you want just a slightly sportier ride go with Bilstein HD.
