E34 no heat help please

hey, i have a 91 525i, believe its the m50. a hose on my heater control valve/aux waterpump, think its also called something else also, came off due to brittle plastic with age i presume. anyways, i bought the entire assembly used off ebay, replaced it, and now i dont have any heat. when the "nipple" where the hose attached to auxiliary waterpump snapped, i was in the process of tearing apart my dash to install a radio, so i had disconnected the plugs for heat controls... blower works on all 4 settings, but just blows cold air... after i replaced the heater control valve/aux waterpump assembly ALSO had an overheating issue, believed to be air in the cooling system since i didnt close off hoses during replacement. i tried burping/purging air out of the system for a long time with no luck, so i finally came onto this site and found an answer. i took the upper radiator hose off and poured coolant directly in there until it came out the filler neck and bleeder screw, then replaced hose and it was fine, except now i dont have heat. i know this is a mess of a job, but any suggestions or possibilities would be a great help, im near milwaukee and its freeeeezing cold, thanks, cheers

Its good to know you've got some value from the site already. Are you sure that your control valve and aux pump are actually functioning? I'd start there and work your way around from that point.
