E34 misfires is the Position Sensor Bracket which Modified?

Guys I have a missfiring problem, The thing is I'm using an old E23 sensor bracket which i believe was not used for position sensor but for diagnostic purposes, I modified this bracket to hold my E34 sensor,

The car misfires, Is the position of the sensor and bracket important to avoid this problem? Is it compulsary to use the original E34 sensor bracket or One can also use E23 bracket?
