I've done a few searches here and haven't found the answer I'm after.
So, I've just fitted a new 3.0ltr V8 to my 530i which hasn't been running for about 2 years. The key was flat so I replaced the batteries and went through the key initialization sequence. Bear in mind I only have one key!
The initialization sequence was followed to the letter but has not worked. The owners manual says that the vehicle will need to be taken to the nearest BMW Service Centre as the system is probably locked?
Is there something I can do to get around or reset this?
I still get all ignition/dash lights etc, just no cranking (no power to the start solenoid) and I can't hear the fuel pump going.
Not sure if it's related or not but the Radio code is also not being accepted by the factory radio.
I just spoke to a mate of mine who did his apprenticeship for BMW back in the day and he said that it could possibly be the EWS itself... Hope not!
The other thing to try he said would be the Key Barrel 'ring antenna'...
I have a complete spare drivers door handle with barrel, ignition barrel, ring antenna, glove box barrel and keys.. However the keys differ slightly as they don't have the little infra red LED thing sticking out at the base of the key. I have tried to initialize one of these aswell which didn't work either??
