E34 Factory Radio Removal+Aftermarket radio install help
Hi
I'm New To bmw e34 world so i bought an e34,after i bought it i recognized that the radio is not working at all,so i went and bought an aftermarket radio
the thing that i need
1-how to remove the factory radio that is door sided with four holes,2 on each side
2-how to install an aftermarket radio without touching the factory amplifier and the factory wiring harness
3-which one i can use for installing an aftermarket radio (metra 70-8591 ) for amplified vehicles , or metra(70-8590) for non amplified
my car has a factory amplifier with (bavaria c reverse lll) radio
and who has installed one of metra wiring harnesses and how to install it
On the factory radio sides, around the middle area you will see a small square. Lift from the inside of the radio out and you will find a screw with a five sided cavity (anti-theft feature). Use a small screwdriver that fits snugly and loosen it. After you do this on both sides you can slide the radio out. The plug on the back of the radio gave some trouble and I actually broke it. It has a slide lock that once you've got it out you'll understand. As for the harness, I just bought the harness for the car year from Ebay along with an antenna adapter (you will need it!) and it worked perfectly. I did my new harness for the new radio and adapter before I took it all out and it was all plug and play. Good Luck!
