I just bought a 1990 535i (E34) and I would like to install a CD changer. It says pre-wired for CD changer in the trunk. But:
1) I have no idea how/where to mount the CD changer.
2) Where is the wire I am plugging the changer into?
3) What else do I need to know about installing changer?
Thanks in advance for your help. And please excuse my newbiness.
Tim
By the way, the CD changer I have is part # 82 11 1 468 014. It came out of a 1990 325iS.
do you still have the stock headunit? it wont work with aftermarket ones... and the cord should be next to your back right taillight if i remember right...

The "prewired" harness is hidden near your stock amp location, on the e34:
Remove your trunk liner on the right side.
The stock amp is right behind that panel, trace the wires back a little, you'll run into a series of harnesses, there should be one that fits your cd changer, perhaps, if you're lucky, it's labeled.
The mount for the cd changer, however, is bolted into the "celing" of your trunk, on the right (drivers) side as well.
If you need any more info, I can take pictures of mine for you.
Thanks D3ity. I found the wiring harness. Unfortunately the pin connectors don't match. And the dealer is telling me I have the correct CD Changer: Part # 82 11 1 468 014. Again this is going into a 1990 535i (last 7 VIN: BF66780). Is there an adapter I need or something? The connector in the car is straight across pins in a row of 4, 4, and 3. The connector on the CD changer looks like it takes pins configured in a spiral-like formation.
