E34 540ia slight smoke in engine bay!

Hi there guys,

Just suddenly noticed over the last couple of days that when the engine is idling, on the right side of the engine bay near the brake fluid reservoir I can see a slight amount of smoke which is quite a greyish colour and also can smell it too. Not sure what it is but it seems to be coming from underneath that reservoir but i don't think it is coming from the reservoir! I have checked all my levels and they seem fine.

Could it be the power steering pump smoking because I'm having problems with it or could it be something more serious? Maybe a slight leak of something?

It's almost certainly a leak, and if you're having power steering issues, I'd start there
