hi all
i've got a e34 540 its recently had a major service and a new supersprint exhaust put on. It was all good but one week ago i noticed it idleing a bit rough, since then its had the intake temp sensor replaced. this morning it was idleing a little rough but not to bad until i tryed to accelerate up the street, it wouldnt go, everytime i put my foot on the accelerator it lost all power, when i take my foot off the accelerator it idles fine. kind of like it has enough fuel to idle properly but not enough to accelerate......................
.......does anybody have any idea what the hell it could be.........
.......the local mechanic wouldnt have a clue and tryed to send me to the bmw dealership thats 35 kilometers away..........HELP MY SICK 540....
oh yeah its an intermittant problem at the moment.........thanks Nick
If it is doing this on and off, and it only happens when you accelerate, then ws is probably right. If you are putting a lower quality gas in it than premium, that might be the reason too, you might need to run something like seafoam through the gas tank or a line and see if that works. Good luck, E34's are wonderful cars, I owe my life to one, treat it well.
thanks lads it was the fuel pump..i was told the pump i got was a 540 pump but it was slightly smaller in diameter than the one i took out..it seems to do the job though..thanks again ...nick
