I'm about to put some 19x8.5's and 19x9.5's on my '89 525i and wanted to know what size tires I could run without having to roll fenders to prevent scrubbing. The offsets are +20 and +30. Would like to get widest tires possible with no scrub. Thanks.
I have a set of 18x8 with 245/40/18. The Kuhmos I had rubbed in hard cornering. The Fuzions that are on there now are fine, never rubbed, same size tire. 19's I'm not really sure, I was told they wont fit, but if you'd have a +1 setup from what I have, I'd say it would work. The front struts are REALLY close with my 18s.

e34 20"s no problem. do U turns all day.. no scrub
I have 20"s on my 95 and have plenty of room I was even thinking of going bigger. As long as you don't have monster truck tires on it you can probably fit a set of 21"s. But they are an odd size so the tires are a b#itch to find. If you have clearance problems in the front you can ding the shocks in while they are on the car just dont hit the fender with the hammer. or just get a set of spacers and put the hub centrick ring on the spacer so you dont get a wabble. My trick is small tires 225/30/zr20 the rims are 8.5" wide and the tire is for a 7" wide rim so they are streched on to make a lower profile. And if they don't sound safe I can vouch for speeds in exess of 120mph with also the windy roads and tight high speed cornering still as stable as ever.
