My car just died this morning as if I'd run out of petrol. The engine turns over nicely but it's not starting. The AA came out and towed me home - the mech. said that it was my fuel pump.
I've removed the fuel pump and checked it and it's working fine. I've replaced it into the tank, took the outgoing fuel line off and made sure that the petrol was pumping but the car still won't start. Has anyone experienced this problem ? I'm trying to trace the fuel line to the engine but to be honest I don't recognise a lot under the bonnet - it's not like my old Cortina !! Can anyone point me in the right direction, i.e. where specifically can I disconnect the fuel line under the bonnet to check if I've got a supply ?
I'm wondering now that it may not be a fuel problem but something else.
I current have same problem with my 1994 540 as you had back in August. Did you manage to solve it. Be gratefull on any advise. I now have brush the dust off my 2000 ford fiesta. Really not happy with that.
