I have purchased a set of wheels and tires online(ebay) to replace the dreaded stock metric 390's. They are the stock cross spoke (basketweave) bmw wheels I believe for the E34. They do seem much larger and certainly look larger on my 88 535i. However, I was told that I didn't need any additional adjustment. After mounting the wheels, my mechanic said that I need a hub-centric ring to adapt it, otherwise it would vibrate. Sure enough, at 50 mph it started vibrating.
Does anyone have any knowledge regarding this situation and the specific resolve?
Thanks-jtighes
Not so sure of your car specifics but I know that the hub of my E39 is slightly bigger than the E34's. They will fit but not without a hub-centric ring. This issue does come up so often. We will wait and see further replies meanwhile you may want to search tirerack.com for these rings.
