E12 Ignition Wont Shut Car Off - BMW Forum

I recently purchased this 75 E 12, and had it stored for the winter. I took it out for a ride to warm it up and it started to overheat...... so I turned off the key, but alas! it will not turn off. The car simply keeps running (sounds like the bunny, it keeps going and going....)

Any ideas? I have 2 parts mobiles (E3's Bavaria's), but maybe some help from one or more of the experts.

Maybe a relay? I'm perplexed and rarely have enough time to get into it deep b4 the honey do list comes around, or some cold Molsen XXX......

Maybe the ignition switch itself has gone bad.

Relay it was, the "relief relay"

First I disconected the ignition, and shazam it stayed running. So I then started pulling relays one by one until I found one that would shut off the car.

Grabbed one from the Bavaria with the same schmatics (sp) and it worked.

So when they say do not over jump your car, hey this is one of the deals that can happen.
