I recently bought my '02 525 about 2 weeks ago and I was aware of the DSC light being on. I tried pressing the button but it wouldnt go away, so I brought it over to my local BMW shop to make sure everything was ok. On the phone the tech told me it could be the module, sensor, or possibly the tranny.
When driving, I've never encountered any problems with the tranny from park, reverse, or drive. No grinding, slipping or struggles, so I was not worried about it being the tranny. When I got the diagnosis on the vehicle he said it was the DSC module itself. Now when I look for DSC module, is it correct when I see this title: BMW E39 ABS DSC CONTROL MODULE BRAIN ECU. Does the DSC module control the abs also because none of my abs lights are on, just the DSC light. Any clarifications would help before I buy the part, thanks!
So here is the link of a DSC/ABS module i think I might get if fuses are still good for the DSC. What confuses me is that the part number on the part is not a good number. Could I be reading the wrong part number because I've called 2 different dealership and they both said its not a good part number. Also is this the right DSC module that I could replace with my defective one on the 525?
