I think I might freak out! I changed the insert in my driver side windshield wiper blade and it skips going down!!! I took it back to the dealer and they said I am the only one who has EVER had a problem!!!! Well anyways I went to advance and bought a new insert since the dealer was a freakin snow hoe and it still skips! Nothing has changed other than the insert. Is there a wiper arm conversion kit to allow use of regular wipers? What could be causing this? I have re-rainxed my windshield, coated the blade with silicone spray and everything. Please help! Thanks so much!
... i'm pretty sure you can use normal blades.... I know my e30,e24 and e38 can(replaced them all)

No you can't believe me. I have tried to replace with normal wipers but the wiper arm on the driver side is opposite of any other wiper arm on this earth. The wiper arm is backwards!!!! WHY?!?!?!?! It has to be a BMW wiper. What really doesn't make sense is the passenger side wiper is normal! Again WHY!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!! LOL
I use a narrow insert. I think its a 20N if I remember right. The narrow insert will slide down the bimmer wiper rail. Your talking about the drivers side with the spoiler on it correct?

Yea its the driverside wiper. Thats the thing I bought the supposed correct insert from the BMW dealer and it was not working right so since they were being little bitchs about it I went to Advance to get a new one and see if it was the wiper but the new blade insert was crap too! What I mean about being crappy is that it will wipe clean going up but skip coming down. The insert fits otherwise. I have a bosch icon on the passenger side wiper cause its normal wiper arm and it is AWESOME but dosn't help if I cannot see out the driver side! I am so frustrated with BMW for making the drivers side so gay.
Later years of the e34 got the "normal" arm ... go to the dealer and have them look it up.
edit: As far as skipping: there was actually a technical bulletin issued by BMW back in like 97 about it ... to clean the dirt thoroughly and help stop the skipping, clean it with Bon Ami (which is some sort of household cleaner): put some on a wet cloth and scrub, then dry it off with a clean towel.
I remember reading a few years ago about the angle of the wiper arm to the windshield must be within a certain range or the wipers may skip. It's possible that the angle has changed over the years of replacing the wiper blades. I can't find any reference to the article but this is the BMW tool:
