Driver Power Seat and steering wheel problems

I have a 1997 528i; my driver power seat and steering wheel will not move at all. They were both working ok until just last night ; does this sound like a familiar problem? any easy fix to this before sending it to the shop?

check the seat switch on the drivers seat. It is common for the connector to break especially if the plastic surrounding trim is broken or sagging.

I'm having a similar problem with my 528i as well. How do you check if this switch is disconnected?
