Hi, Does anyone know if a double din stereo will fit within the original stereo apatuer without modification? Thinking of buying one of those 7" screen dvd stereos to replace the original headunit the previous owner removed. Would like a standard system but not willing to pay the high asking price they go for.
Pretty sure a double DIN wont fit without some modification, or a custom install plate. Only ones I have seen are for single DIN, which I have in mine.

Yea just found out about the custom kits (quite expensive). Do you know if removing the ODC display under the stereo will effect any of the cars features such as traction control & engine management etc?

I don't think so, but which part in particular are you talking about? On mine, I have a 97 528, non DSP stereo. I removed the tape player and radio and replaced with a single DIN installation kit and pioneer stereo. Just below that is the AC control, and below that are the buttons for traction control and rear defogger. everything below the radio is still there, but removing the radio didn't affect anything as far as traction control or engine management.
