Door Locks quit working

99 528i e39 sedan
Parked the car, locked with remote then returned twenty minutes later and unlocked with the remote. That's when the front doors remained locked while the back doors unlocked. Got in the car and the front doors remained unlocked as I drove away even though the rears locked automatically at 5mph. All of the locks respond the same to the doorlock button on the center console.
Central locking fuse (#53) in the trunk (boot) is intact and there is nothing in the owner's manual that clues me in.

Could be your battery in the remote fob getting low.

Thanks Marti,
Fresh battery makes it well again. Given the symptoms I would have suspected something more elaborate and expensive.
I spend more time searching the forum for answers already given than I do asking but I didn't see this problem out there.
I appreciate it.

Good stuff, always go for the unlikely candidate first and of course the logical way.....what operates the locks.....the fob!!!
