lowering also means stiffer springs, and less longitudinal wheel travel. Thus, comfort is compromised.
"Ruin" is maybe not the correct word. Study your driving style:
... if you are teh "form over function" person; drive hard in the corners, and don't mind a stiffer ride; lowering is for you. If you are the "function over form" type of a guy who loves the kinda' laid back way of driving, then keep your car stock ;-)
A also agree with DH. One other thing, if you go to places with speed bumps, a lowered car may scrape. And some cars need a skid plate for the oil pan.
