I have a dinan5 superchared 540i automatic. Do 540i motors like running at high rpms. I had all the work done at dinan and they did the trans software. I would like to run manual mode more but not sure if The motor likes the high rpms. Thanks Mike

As for the high RPMs.... these cars were made to go that high... as for the V8... they were also meant like that... Depending upon your current pully set up and software... your car probably puts out the most HP/Tq at a higher RPM.... it is ok to run high RPMs.... maybe not in every gear all the time... but yes... it is perfectly natural... it is a sport/touring car... meant to handle that...
2000 540i sport with dinan s3 package. I bought the car with 19000 miles on it and sent to dinan in morgan hill and had the work done. Steve Dinan did all the computer tuning. Had the Dinan supension upgrade done as well koni shocks sway bars. My local body shop put the m5 body kit on it and I put 18inch 740 wheels. The reason I didnt buy an m5 was at the time I didnt want a 6 speed. Was on the road alot for work and a 6speed as a daily driver in the bay area is not fun in the traffic. Steve Dinan estamated the hp to be around 420 and torque about the same.Steve said this is one of the fastest that he has turned out yet The car is fast. On the freeway I will go after anything that comes my way the ultimate sleeper. I also play with old corvettes which are just raw muscle where this is smooth power. I have has it up to 155 with plent let and still pulling strong got scared not of the car but the chp. I will take some pics and post. Here some pics of my other baby 64 corvette coupe 327/365hp.
that is friggen sweet, the back bumper makes that car look so beefy from behind, friggen sweet.

How much did you spend all together on the mods for the 540?
A bunch. About 25k and worth every penny. Dinan really does a first class job. Having Steve oversee the entire job and program it himself made it even better. So far the car has been flawless. Faster than an m5 and then again faster than most anything on the road. new ran 1/4 mile but would guess about mid 13s but on the freeway when you punch it it is gone. I have run with some real exotics and they are amazed how I either stay with them or pull away from them.
Just personally wish dinan would stop using vortech POS superchargers and go the way of a maggy or coolercharger.
See wayyy too many vortech blower failures at my job. Always have to end up eating the cost of the supercharger when they fail too, seems that the bearings always go out on them after about 1 year or so regardless of milage, and when they fail the impeller always breaks fins and vortech claims ignorance and that impeller damage isnt covered because the supercharger probably just "ingested foreign particulates"
