| Defect report - cars built around 10/04
During the process of dealing with a gas leak in a 530 built in 10/04, one of the independent shops here in in Orlando showed me a defect report about a gas tank valve installed on in cars built around 10/04 time frame. The defect reports says that the valve is defect and when it fails will result in you not being able to add gas to the tank. The bottom line is since the valve is plastic welded to the gas tank, the tank has to be replaced to resolve the issue. Expensive.
Since these cars are coming out of warrantry you really need to check this out. The dealer here (Fields BMW) covered the replacement even thouh my car was a month out of warranty. Thank you Fields. But check this out. |
