Dealer Repairs or Certified Autoshops?

Hello Everyone,

I am new on this forum.

Just wondering if anyone located in PHX, AZ has any suggestions about whether I should continue to go to the dealer for repairs or maintenance (oil changes, belts, etc...)? My 2000 528i is out of warranty and just surpassed the 60k mark.

My suggestion is if your into cars and like to maintain them...do it youself...the only thing your going to need to do is either go to bmw to get your parts for the car (oil, oil filter, etc...) or just order them online...and also you have to get one of the computer reset things...so you can reset your oil lamp and it also works with other things...

I am looking to learn more about how to maintain cars, but haven't actually done it yet. I would be more inclined to start with my older vehicle first though. Maybe one day...

Just took my car into Motorsports of Scottsdale. They specialize in Ferrari, Aston Martin and Lamborghini sales, but do have a 5-star certification in Mercedes and BMW repairs. Just wanted to let everyone know that they were about 1/2 the cost of what the BMW dealer quoted and had the car repaired within the day. The Service Manager also took the time to explain in detail the issues and some preventative things that I could do for my 5 series.

The showroom cars were nice too. They also had some X5 and M5s for sale there too!
