What a piece of $%%^&*.... and i don't mean the car because I love it. I am talking about the plastic door handles they put on the 98 528i. I have had to get it replaced 3 times. This time will be the forth! So everyone out there with a 5 series, be gentle....
Damn, take it easy on those door handles! I've never replaced mine, and neither has my father. You probably got used to yanking on the door handles in another car--a couple of my friends really whale on the things when they get in and out of their cars. All I can suggest is try pulling it gently--the door will still open, you don't have to yank it really hard.

I'll be more careful. It is so embarassing when I stop, I have to roll down my window and open the door from the outside to get out of my car.
ROFL--Yeah, I'm sure that's embarassing, but I'll bet that it's funny to watch
