Cooling fluid change: Bleed the system?

I would like to know if is necessary to bleed the system when you replace the cooling fluid. If so, which is the way of doing so. Thanks. JM

If you have an E34, check this out: http://www.bmwe34.net/e34main/mainte...eplacement.htm

On my car, you will have to bleed it quite a few times to get all the air out. Just be patient and it'll work.

you will find a plastic philips headed screw either on the overflow tank or around the upper radiator hose..that's where you bleed the system

There will be a drain bolt on your engine block that you should remove as well, in order to thoroughly drain your coolant. The aluminum washer should be replaced, but don't sweat it if you cannot find a replacement washer, just re-use the old one.
