Coolant types?

I was curious if it was ok to use Prestone that says it is for all makes all models. I wanted to know if anyone has ever used this in their BMW and if it was safe for the cooling sytem. Thanks!

It really is best to use the BMW coolant. In general, what you really need is an ethylene-glycol coolant. Read this write-up from pelican parts, as it has the down low on engine coolant:

Pelican Technical Article: BMW 3-Series E36 Cooling System Flush

I would say it is worth the few extra bucks. Radiator flushes only come every other year or so.
