"Coolant Level Low" false indicator

I have consistently got the dreaded beep of the dash light indicator informing me that my coolant level is low, however it always checks out just fine. My e34 has a ton of miles (280k) so I recognize that it may be bad sensor(s)- Also about 10k miles ago I replaced the radiator - this false alert was happening both before and after. Any one have similar issues or advice? Thanks!

Pull the plug off the sensor and short out the plug pins.
If the light goes out the sensor is faulty

If the light doesn't go out it is a wiring fault
On my 525i the wiring was broken just inside the top of the plug and I was able to cut back the insulation and rejoin the wires to it.

My daily is a Mitsubishi HSGR (but I wouldn't mind an e34 525i)
