Cooland Level light on my 525i!!!

Hi guys. Recently my coolant level light has been coming on when my car is up to operating temp. When it cools down it goes off. I checked my coolant levels cold and hot and they are in normal ranges. Can my level sensor be going bad?? My car isnt overheating or running any different. Btw, it's a 1990 525i with the M20. I would appreciate your input. Thanks.

It probably is the sensor. I had to replace mine on my 97 last year after getting intermittent "low coolant" warnings. I think that bavauto sells them pretty cheap...

Before you buy anything...have you bled your radiator lately? I forgot that sometimes it can cause a low coolant warning.

The bmwe34.net is a good reference place, I found it before I started coming here years ago. Lotsa good info there.
