I havea 99 e39 with a 5sp. This morning was the first morning is has been what they consider cold around here.

I was driving to work and my dash binged if you will and on the diplay it showed the temp and it was blinking.
What does this mean?

Also with the 5sp usually when your are in neutral 5th gear is kinda locked out. It takes more force to get into 5th than 1-4. This morning the lockout (if you wil) was not there so I could move the shifter between 1-5

Any ideas?

The "bing" and flashing is done to alert the driver to the possibility of ice forming. It should ring and flash at +37*F.
