On cold starts, my rpm drops close to zero about every 20 seconds for a second and then immediately returns back to normal. It normally idles at around 800. After the engine warms up, the hesitation is gone. My car has 78k miles. Has anyone experienced this or know the problem?
on cold starts, my rpm goes to abt 1200-1300 for a second or two and then drops down to 7-800. Yeah, but that happens only in cold weather (cold start). Sorry didn't really answer ur Q. But now we have 2 extreme cases. Help

how is that a extreme case... the car idles at higher rpm to warm up... once warm it goes to normal idle which is around 700 rpm.

I think your situation sounds normal. Though, I can't remember a time when my car idles at a higer rpm when it's cold. I've had Toyotas do that, but not my BMW.
Sry guys...my bad...shouldnt have said "EXTREME"...just two end cases. Although higher side end could be even higher. Well but it feels better to know that its not just my car.
Thanks
