Went to drive the new 545 and I love the way it drives but hate the body of the car. Guess it has to grow on me. So I decided to keep my 2000 540i 6 spd until I like the E60 or until they redesign it. The dealer wasn't very pleased to say the least. LOL. So now I've decided to try and find new ways to spice up my car. Will I feel a significant difference in bypassing or replacing the CDV? And if so, how do I go about doing this? Also, will it have any long-term negative affects on my car?
I don't like the e60 either, if they would facelift it and redo the headlights I could live with the rest of the car, but picking on the e60 is like shooting fish in a barrel.
As for the CDV Here is a link to another thread that talks about a clutch inconsistancy but enclosed is a link to a manufacturer that sells dummy CDV's. I believe they are called Zechausen(?). Side effects to performing this mod? you might enjoy your car more. I have not heard of anyone having a problem after doing this mod.

I made an appointment with Zeuchausen to change the CDV and I'll let everyone know how it feels when I get it done. He had to order more for the 540 so it will be a couple of weeks before I can get it done. I've had the car this long, I can wait another couple of weeks. Thanks for all your help.
I installed my modified CDV valve about a month ago and must say that I love it. It makes the car easier to drive. The next step is to get an EVO 3 short shifter and install my new SACHS clutch.
