Boy here's a good one.I have a 1998 528i.Lately I've heard a "click-click"
sound (the best way I can describe it is the sound an old timey oil can
would make when you press on the bottom).Sound occurs when driving
or idling.Happens about once per minute but is intermittent.Sound is coming
from engine compartment...right by my left foot (when on footrest).
Any ideas or comments appreciated.Weird.
Thanks,
Mark
hey bill;
I've since found out that the intermittent clicking sound is not when engine
is running...but when key is turned to #2 position (warning lites on,engine not running). Radio,climate control,etc off, but it sounds as if a relay (?) is trying to switch
on or off when I turn key to #2 position.Inside car sounds like noise is more behind climate control/radio area.
With hood open sound is from center/bottom of engine.Strange.All electrical
working ok(although I do need to replace ingition switch)...just curious.
Thanks,
Mark
