Cleaning MAF sensor info!

I did something very similar to this with mine on my '99 540/6 and it worked - for a while. However, the dreaded check engine light returned about 4 or 5 months later. At that point I replaced the MAF sensor completely and that resolved the issue. Since this methodology is basically free, I definitely feel it's worth trying; just don't have elevated expectations.

Yeah, me too. Tried cleaning, worked for a day then the light came back on.
Replaced with a new one, but it was faulty and lasted like a few days!!!
The last one solved the problem finally.

i've always heard to never try and clean because they have a special non stick coating that will wash off if cleaned......never tried on mine because this info comes from bmw mechanic buddies at the dealership i work at
