I am beside myself with the results! The directions can be found on the bmwdiy.com/e39 site. Although I do not have before pics, the engine was covered in dust after 130,000 miles. I didn't want to take a picture of it before.lol...
Here it is after:
Basically I used Engine Brite degreaser and WD-40 making sure I covered up the electrical components such as the alternator etc. and made sure I didn't spray them directly with the degreaser. I rinsed it off after a few minutes with light pressure from the hose. I sopped up the small water puddles with a towel and sprayed a healty does of WD-40 all over the engine.
It was the first time I have ever used Engine Brite. This stuff is very strong and flammable. The fumes are horrible and I am fairly certain I killed a few endangered species in the area. RINSE WELL WITH WATER before starting the engine!!!!!!!!!!!!
OOOOPS! I see that I should have posted this in the detailing forum. Moderator(s), can this be moved por favor?
