Chevy 350 in a BMW - BMW Forum

i finally got my bmw back after it was stolen this past weekend and found the motor was blown.... i have been considering putting a chevy 350 into it and making a custom dash for the car and saying the hell with the computer and everything else. it is a 1985 528e has anyone ever done it or any ideas of what im getting myself into. i have a complete shop to work in so everything i need will be there thanks for any advice and input..

Or you could get a used engine that would probably work from the junkyard.

Kinda how BMW put GM transmissions in BMW's from the factory?

I say that it seems to sound like too much trouble, but you should be able to do it. If you do it, be sure to be ready for a lot of custom work. This is not something you do for the final outcome, but rather for the enjoyment of the process.

I don't know anything about the Chevy 350, nor do I feel like Googleing it, but I would recommend that you do a little research in terms of dimensions, weight, mounting, etc.

If I had to guess, I'd say that even if you got the Chevy 350 for free, it would be more economical to simply get a BMW replacement engine from a junkyard

hey ive seen a 502 in a jag . so why not ? it would be a hell of a tire boiler thats for sure . i say go for it . DARE TO BE DIFFERENT !!!!!

^ lol Sisters car is a 1957 Jaguar Mark 1 with a 327 in it and shes yanking that out and dropping the 350 she built in it is a very fun car.....

yeah starts EVERY time even after sitting 4 5 years i but a new battery in it and started like i had just turned him off... o and he's quite torquey lol very fun
