ghead Hey everyone!

My check engine light came on about a week or so ago. I had my mechanic look it over, and after plugging in his troubleshooting module into the OBD, he tells me that it is a fault P0740 which is describe as "P0740 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfunction". Have any of you experienced this on your cars? And it is repairable w/o tearing the tranny completely? Can I replace the circuit myself? Anyone have any thoughts? My car runs about 2300 rpm's @ 65 MPH. It is a 1999 528 iT wagon, 6 cyl. automatic 4 speed. It shifts fine in all 4 gears. Thanks all! JM>

I'll throw in another...

Check Engine light on a 1994 530. Codes 1213 and 1221.

Does anyone know what it takes to replace the two O2 sensors on a 1994 530?

And how do you get to the battery? I cannot find a release for the back seat.

As for the the torque converter...

I am an amatuer. The other guys on this board know a lot more than me. Sorry I cannot help you.

I am not familiar enough to help you with your 530, but this other site has lots of information and pictures for your car.

You will need to break down your VIN number to get started, which you can do with a web search. Good luck and let me know how you make out! JM>

When I follow the link, it tells me:

This scares me! they're not following me around now, are they?

If not, any idea how I can get to the site?

That's interesting. I just hit both links that I sent to you, and they worked just fine! I found them by using Goggle. The codes site is located at:

And the parts catalogs is at:

RealOEM.com Online BMW Parts Catalog

You should be able to access these site w/o any problems. Try individually writing them into your browser. See if that works. JM>
