My daughter recently purchased a 1987 535IS. All was well until the other day when we were shopping - in and out of car, locking as we left, etc. We got to the car and she unlocked the driver door as usual and my passenger door did not unlock....neither did any of the other doors. She can lock and unlock driver door but none of the other doors can be opened from the outside or inside (door locks cannot be lifted from inside). Has anyone ever had this problem? What should we do? The BMW dealership said they had to hook the car up to a diagnostic ($60.00) and then give me an estimate to fix. Or should I just get the CLS disconnected so she'll just have to lock and unlock doors manually. This of course is not her preferred option but she can't have any passengers in her car until this problem is fixed because of the potentional danger. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Don't know if the link below will help, but it might be relevant. I have seen lots of posts on the subject of synchronizing doors after they go our of synch. http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/57246
Try searching for "synchronizing BMW doors" if the link doesn't do the trick.
