New to the site, but a BMW fan since my 1968 2002. Any experience of central locking problems on an E34? Currently have a 540 which seems to have permanently locked rear doors and front doors which will only open/lock with a key. Have a new battery (12.77v) in the transmitter. Where to start looking for the most likely cause of my problem? Any ideas welcome!!! John.

If the rear doors are permanently locked, does that mean you cant even pull the knob up?

If yes, it seems like the car was deadlocked with the key and somebody tried to open it with an alarm and it killed the servos. Although thats not the only thing that could cause something like this.

I would start off by checking for fuses in the usual place and also around the central locking unit.

good luck
