Hello! I'm new to the forum... I have a 1994 530i (3.0L V8 5-speed) and I was looking around at some of the wiring. I found some connectors that were not connected to anything under wooden panel and some foam around the shifter. My uncle thought that one of them might be a connector for the BMW car phone from back in the day. This got me thinking... Does anyone know anything about the connectors? (like which one is for the phone) I want to try to figure out a way to hook up my cell phone (Sony Ericsson T616) to this connector so I can use the phone features built into the 530i.
Does anyone have a car phone in an E34, or any experience with them?
If the actual phone had some kind of computer in it and it was an all digital signal through those wires in the connectors I found, then I am probably out of luck, but I doubt they are. I figure the pins are as follows: a positive and ground for the audio coming out of the phone (speaker), a positive and ground for audio going into the phone (microphone), positive for power, some type of circuit that initiates and/or closes connections, and another ground for power and the other circuit i just mentioned.
Am I way off? Will this probably not ever work?
Thanks,
John
