Angry Can't open hood on 1997 E39

I pulled on the release lever a few days ago and only one side of the hood released, so I closed it and then pulled on the lever again. This time, the lever became loose. How can I ge tthe hood opened? Thanks.

Ok, try again with someone pullig the hood as you pull the lever. If the lever has gone floppy, at the top of the lever you will see the cable end disonnect this, you will see a ball or nipple get a set a grips hold the outer sleeve and pull the B or N with the grips.

In addition, on my 1997 528, the cable broke shortly after I bought it. That might also have happened.
