I forgot to mention, go to circlebmw.com (New Jersey) dealer.

Click on "service dept", then click on "tech tips". you'll find info regarding the alarm

With the alarm removed, the remote on your key won't work. The alarm unit is what controls all of the remote functions.

Buy a cheap aftermarket alarm on ebay and install it in your car. It's really easy to do since all of your wires from the factory alarm are right there - I could help you with that if you needed it, too.

That way you could have your remote lock / unlock, windows down / double lock without spending a fortune on the factory alarm.
