Just a quick question about the A/C button. Mine does not illuminate except for a second or two occasionally right when I start the car. I've never heard the compressor kick in when I press the button, but, I also don't know if the button is bad. I assume that the button acts just like any other switch, in that if illuminated, the circuit should be open, and if not illuminated, the circuit should be closed? Might it be that my switch just doesn't work?

My AC quit after a month of intermittent operation. I know there was a good charge, as it was cold when it did engage, so I spent several months screwing with the switch, replacing the relay, etc. All three switches on the panel quit working.
It turned out to be a faulty HVAC computer. I put in a used switch panel and voila!, it works perfectly. You can hang meat in the car. The Bentley manual does not even refer to it as such, just as the IKD box (not exactly right, but I don't have access to my records as I am out of town). It is located near the pollen filter in front of the center console in the car.
Well, the problem with mine is that the AC hasn't worked since I bought the car. It could be the computer, the switch, or a host of other things, and probably a combination of them.
I never gets that hot in Germany, so it really doesn't matter that much. I'll only have the car for another 9-10 months anyway and then time to pass it on to someone else.

Is that second handed one? It could be anything relay? switch?compressor? need more info.
