BUYING a used 528i - BMW Forum

I would like to ask for some assisstance. I am planning on buying a used
1992 528i and would like to find out if there are any problems
regarding this 5 series car.
And if anybody has any suggestions on what to look out for.
the car supposedly has about 185,000 miles on it.
what kind of miles should i be expecting for this car/engine?

any particular nuisance with this car? i would greatly appreciate
the help that any would be able to provide.

In general I think you have to check all of the electrical equiptment on BMW's, a problem across all years in the 5 series. I like mine but there is an electrical issue now and again. 185k is very high miles!

yeah, the miles seem a little high.

is that mostly what i should watch out for (electrical problems)?

i went to look@it today. the door ajar was blinking even though all doors were closed.

and also, he said battery was dead and that he was getting a new one.
i am a little leary. we test drove it a little bit and i figured that it would have had
a little bit of charge after driving it. after shutting it down then tried to restart
it, it would not turn over and he had to jump it again.

any thoughts on this?
