Buying a 94 540I

Hi All

I am so glade to find this forum, I am about to buy a 94 540I with very low millage 67K , the car looks fine but accelerate poorly for a 540I with this miles , I noticed also a white smoke not much though, is this something serious or simple, I am in Denver Colorado can someone recommend a BMW specialist that would do a serious check on the car, all help is appreciated, thanks.

There is no chance to take it to be checked, I have to decide today since they have another serious offer, as i mentioned the car drives fine on high speed but acceleration from low speed is poor and there is a vibration like feeling it feels almost like when you have a portion of the window open and the air will cause turbulence , I am offering 4200 , shall go on, what would be the worst case scenario, thanks,I need an Urgent Advise on that.

Ok thanks guys, I would have bought this car but fortunately I did not, this was my first 540 but I felt the engine is not as expected, this explains it, thanks again.

Since I decided to get a BMW so the search is on, I am now checking a 98 740i with 125k on it, it drives fine I mean good the acceleration is good not flying or something , do you guys have any recommendations, things to check on that model , thinks to be aware of, common problems, the only thing that I did not wile was the wind sound when the inner part of the roof was open (the glass was closed) but it seemed like there was a part of a window open but when I closed the inner sliding roof it reduced the sound, opinions guys.

I am still looking at several options I have 99 323i and a 98 740i similar condition, i like both of them , what is your recommendation guys, which one would be less in future repairs cost, thanks.

Totally different cars.

There's no question the 3 will be a lot cheaper to maintain than the 7; however, you'll have less comfort and fewer gadgets, too.

the sunroof noise is normally just the gasket... it's a cheap fix
