Brake Upgrade (E39/M5)
I have contact with a chap in Germany who works in the Tuning department of BMW & he’s clearly bent on getting performance out of a car. Due to constant upgrading of his own personal car, he’s offered me the complete set of parts required to upgrade the brakes on my 2000 535TD with M5 brakes which will apparently fit perfectly without modifications. They’ve had little use & I’ve seen photos of all the parts----no lips & all looking very “new”. He’s told me that the retail price of the parts would be around Euros 3,000 but I can have his for Euros 850 which includes the shipping to me from Germany to Spain
I have noticed that my own brakes will definitely fade badly when applied at high speed (150/200kph) so whilst I don’t normally drive at such speeds & am expecting a rotor change on the fronts shortly, I’m looking for comments on this proposed change. I’m also bearing in mind that the later model of my can does indeed have larger disks although not of the M5 specification so it would seem that BMW were not overly happy with the performance mine provides.
